Heart 2 Heart

Happy New Year! The year has just started and January is almost over. In the month of December many of us made new goals and resolutions. How is it going? Statistics indicates that many people fall off the wagon by January 12th. It is okay to admit if this has happen to you. You are in a great starting over spot right now. February is not only Black History month but it is also Heart Healthy month. This would be a great time to get a better understanding of your heart's health. Here a few fun facts about the heart.

* The average heart is the size of a fist in an adult

* The heart beats about 115,000 times a day

* The average heart pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood daily

* The first open-heart surgery occurred in 1893. It was performed by Daniel Hale Williams,

was one of the few black cardiologist in the United States at the time (A little Black History)

* Although rare, death from a broken heart or broken heart syndrome is possible

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. MDADC wants to help fix that

by educating our community. You are invited to come

out on February 15 at 10:00 am. In this class you will

be provided with informative information concerning

the heart, recognizing symptoms that are signs of

heart problems and learn about steps you can take

to help better your heart.

We are located at 528 Main Street, Eastover SC.

We have a guest speaker, snacks and prize drawings.
